The Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, House of Peoples Representatives, members of Natural Resources Development & Environmental Protection Affairs Standing Committee visited the Project site & held consultative meeting with the Project manager about the construction & Environmental issues.   

 

8-10 December 2012

 

A team of journalist consists of 37 members drown from Government and local Private media, including ERTA visited the Project site & produced different programs on it, especially on the overall Project performance  & some other project related issues.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign minister Ato  Hailemariam Desalegn  paid a visit to the project site

EEPCo’s  Board chairman and  Minister of Communication and Information Technology, Debretsion G/Michael (PhD) along with CEO’s &  Executive Officers paid their usual visit to the project site

Kenyan Ambassador, Dr. Monica Juma, visited the project site.

EEPCo’s Board Chairman and Communication and Information
 Technology Minister, Dr. Debretison G/Michael, along with
Miheret Debebe, CEO and other executive officers pay a one day visit to the project site.

A team of journalists from ERTA visited the project site and produced a program on it.

Abay Tsehay, the National Security Advisor to the Prime Minister of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia (FDRE) along with Fikru Dessalegne, State Minister of Capacity Building, visited the activities of project and encouraged the project staffs to do their best level in realizing the project.

August 14, 2010


The independent Environmental and Social Advisory Panel (ESAP) members of the Gibe III Hydroelectric Project visited all the activities of the project including the Chida-Sodo Road construction. They also held a discussion with the communities who have already received compensation in cash for belongings gone due to the road.

August 2-5, 2010


Speakers of Houses of the Peoples' Representatives and Regional State councils of Ethiopia visited the Gibe III Hydroelectric Project after concluding their meetings held at Hawassa, capital city of the Southern Nations, Nationalities and People's Regional State (SNNPR).

August 1, 2010


The AfDB/ EIB/ World Bank joint mission, EEPCo officials and Mid Day Consulting paid a visit to Gibe III Hydroelectric Project site, the downstream area and Lake Turkana in a bid to review the impact and activities of the project.

October 2009


From July 31-Agust 1, the Environmental Advisory Panel members paid a visit to the Gibe III HEP project site , and discussed with Ato Mebratu Teshome, the site coordinator

July 2009


Experts from Ethiopian Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) paid a visit to site and gave comments about the environmental impacts of the project.

The members of the Natural Resource and Environmental Protection Affairs Standing Committee of the House of Representative (Ethiopia) visited the site

March 2009

The Board of Directors of African Development Bank visited the site on 17 March 2009. From 21 - 25 March 2009, three representative of the European Investment Bank also visited the project site.

The BBC's world Service journalist, Peter Greste, visited the Gibe III HEP site at the presence of Ato Meheret Debebe, chief executive of EEPCo, and produced his own program.

February 2009

21 to 23 January 2009, Mrs. Leslie Johnston of the United states Agency for International Development (USAID) visited the site in relation to the African Development Bank funding process.

January 2009 

A team of journalists from Ethiopian Radio & Television Agency visited the project site and produced a program about the project

December 2008

A high delegation of the government of Italy State Foreign Affairs Minister and the Italian Ambasador to Ethiopia with the Ministry of Mines and Energy (MOME) of Ethiopia and EEPCo Managements visited the project site.

September 2008

 

Chief World Bank Mission & Representatives and Chief Africa Bank Mission & Representatives paid a visit to the site

July 2008

On June 2008, Members of the European Investment Bank (EIB) visited the site. EIB is considering to fund the hydro - mechanical (HM) Works.

Meles Zenawi

The Management , Employees  and  staff of  Gibe III Hydroelectric   project  of  the Ethiopian Electric Power  Corporation  express  their   heartfelt   condolences  on  the  sudden  passing  away  of  His Excellency  Ato  Meles  Zenawi, Prime  Minister of  The  F.D.R.E.
Our  sympathies go to his families, friends and to all peoples of Ethiopia.
